I had to tell my cousin, "I can't make it to the funeral." Just hearing the words out loud brought a new wave of grief over me. Grief, stress, panic and worry filled my head. I went to bed with a pain in my heart and the weight of the world on my shoulders.

The next morning following that fateful call, I realized I just couldn't do it. I can't make the funeral. My youngest woke up with a fever of 103. And, how was I going to swing more than $1500 for airfare, a car rental, and a hotel? Never mind work, that was a whole other issue. But, Linda is gone. How could I not be there? The anxiety of it all was mind numbing.

I called Kevin and told him I was up-in-arms about the whole thing. That's when he surprised me and said, "Don't worry. You can still be here with us." I begged off what I thought was an offer to fly me out there. How could he afford to fly me in and put me up? It was too much for him to offer. "No, it's not that. Our funeral home has webcasting so you can watch the service from home," he said. At first I didn't understand what funeral webcasting was, but as he explained I soon realized that this was the most perfect solution that came at one of the most difficult times in my life. I could still be there for Linda and see everyone else. If only everything was as easy as funeral webcasting.
